Caring for Your Copper

Natural tarnishing of our products will occur with time and use. We feel the patination of copper adds to its beauty! However, if you would like to return your copper to its original shiny state, we have a few cleaning tips for you.

Some of our products have a lacquer to slow the tarnishing process, these should be treated differently to our pure copper products.

LACQUERED PRODUCTS (Tumblers & Water Bottles)

  • Gentle hand washing is reccomended after use. Never use abrasive pads when cleaning as this can scratch the surface.

  • Not dishwasher safe.

  • If you would like to clean the interior of the bottle. A solution of lemon and salt can be swirled around inside and rinsed out.

  • If you find your bottle lid getting squeaky you can grease it with a small amount of natural oil. Always try to screw lid on gently to prevent it from leaking or becoming jarred.

UN-LACQUERED PRODUCTS (Jug & Vases)

  • There are many metal cleaning agents that can be used to clean copper. We love Quickshine Copper Bath which makes tarnish vanish and can be purchased on Amazon.

  • Copper also responds well to polishing naturally. We recommend these following steps: take a lemon and cut in half, sprinkle one half with salt, gently rub the surface of the copper with the half lemon, rinse with warm water and polish with a cloth.

  • If you would like to clean the interior of the jug naturally. A solution of lemon and salt can be swirled around inside and rinsed out. Washing up liquid can also be used to clean inside.
